Grand Hotel Kurhaus - Winter Trailer (Short)
A proud member of Swiss Historic Hotels, the Grand Hôtel & Kurhaus overlooks the village of Arolla (in the municipality of Evolène, between Zermatt and Verbier) at an altitude of 2,100 meters, nestled in a stunning Swiss stone pine forest (home to a variety of wildlife)—the region’s signature trees—and surrounded by glaciers. The building was constructed in 1896 by Mrs. Honorine Gaspoz, at a time when the first mountaineers were venturing onto the nearby peaks, some of which rise above 4,000 meters in altitude.
Built using local materials—Swiss stone pine and granite—Ms. Gaspoz brings her guests from Sion by horse-drawn carriage, and they complete the ascent on donkeys accompanied by guides.
